Life Rambles: Friday Favourites #20

So yes, it is Saturday and not Friday. There was a slight mix up over who was meant to be doing this post and I failed to prepare it for yesterday. Oops. But at least Lau was right for the first time in a while! 😉 Anyway, forgive me for my tardiness! How’s your week been? Mine’s been crazy busy due to all the work but it’s still been a good one with lots of fun stuff.

I think the most fun part of the week was last weekend’s shenanigans with the sisters, which was a whole Saturday of fun things. It was planned in so we could use up our long overdue birthday vouchers for afternoon tea and ended up with a day in London having afternoon tea, looking for new outfits, sharing the joy of Waterstones Piccadilly and just generally walking around enjoying springtime. It was just bliss! I do love spending my days with these two crazy cats.

As for the afternoon tea itself, I would highly recommend it to any and all looking for a nice afternoon tea in London town, which isn’t absurdly expensive! We went to the Ham Yard Hotel, which is tucked away off Shaftesbury Avenue and really is the most wonderfully designed hotel. It’s a brilliant eclectic mix of styles with a stunning conservatory full of wicker furniture and grand fire places. This is where we settled for a veritable spread of delights. For £19.50 we were each treated to tea, three mini sandwiches, mini pizzas, polenta crisps with goats cheese, three mini scones with jam and clotted cream, Viennese swirl cakes and Ferrero Rocher macarons. Plus there were peanut butter and chocolate cups, a slice of cheese cake and strawberry covered victoria sponges to share! So much food! We added to this extravaganza with cocktails (obvs) and truffle mac ‘n’ cheese, before the hotel gave us complimentary meringues and mini carrot cakes in celebration of our birthday. Needless to say we were stuffed by the end of the two hours!

I’m so in love with the fact that it feels like spring is arriving and with it, all the gorgeous spring flowers, both in vases and out in the world. I love it! Granted it’s still cold, but you can definitely tell that change is in the air. Hooray for spring!

I finally made it to the cinema this week to watch Deadpool and I loved every minute of it! I knew it would be a little different to any other Marvel film I’d seen previously. But I didn’t quite realise in what ways and how brilliant it would actually be. I snort laughed my way through the film and came out of it hoping they’ll make a second one just as good, even including all the gruesome bits. Have you seen it yet, what did you think?

Also, how are you finding The Night Manager? I’ve been loving it, it’s BBC Sunday night TV at its best with a superb cast, amazing storylines, awesome locations and enough intrigue to keep me coming back for more. I can’t decide which of the brilliant performances is my favourite. But Hugh Laurie is most definitely the most surprising of them for me. I’ve not seen him play such an evil person for so long and he’s doing it so well. It really is mesmerising to watch. I for one can’t wait for tomorrow nights episode. It’s only going to get more twisty isn’t it?

I hope you have something awesome planned for the weekend? I’ve spent the morning cuddling Luna pup and now I’m off to either the V&A or the cinema. I just need to make a decisions – help!
