I’ve been on a really good reading spree lately and I’ve loved every book I’ve read, so I have been pushing each book into the hands of others non-stop. Don’t you love it when that happens? It’s just the best feeling – hopefully my friends agree!
I’m keen to keep the brilliant book streak going so I’ve curated a mini to-be-read pile of books that I’ve either heard good things about, been meaning to read for ages or have just taken my fancy over the last few days. I always find it impossibly hard to choose one book from the 50 or so unread on my shelves (don’t judge me please, I work in publishing so most of these were pushed on me or bought with a serious discount!) so I think I’ve done well to narrow my next read down to just these six.
Under Rose-Tainted Skies – this proof was passed onto me by a colleague and I’ve only heard good things about this upcoming teen novel, which tackles topics such as agoraphobia and OCD. It’s supposed to be beautifully written and I have a feeling I’ll fall deeply for the main characters Norah and Luke.
Why Not Me? – It’s not often that I delve into something other than fiction, but this one is meant to be hilarious and I do like the idea of taking a break from magical adventures for a while. Have you read Mindy’s books – which chapters do you recommend?
The Night Circus – I’ve still not gotten round to reading this novel, which is supposed to be stunning. I’m not sure why I’ve left it until now to read it, possibly because I’m concerned it won’t live up to my super-high expectations, but I really do need to delve into this atmospheric novel soon.
The Sisters – This thriller is about a woman who is dealing with the death of her twin sister when she meets another set of twins and gets caught up in a web of lies. It sounds like just my sort of mystery book, although I’m not great with books that feature twins – possibly why this has still not been read…
All Their Minds in Tandem – This is a novel set in a small town in 19th Century America as it is rocked by the arrival of a stranger, The Maker. It’s been likened to Twin Peaks and has an intriguing plot. It’s also written by an ex-colleague of mine and I’m really intrigued to give it a read. I’m sure it’s fascinating.
Who’s That Girl? – I’m a huge fan of Mhairi McFarlane and always find her books hilarious, so its high time I tucked into her latest offering. The only thing putting me off? The bulk of it, I’m not sure I want to carry a hardback to and from work. Does that make me lazy or sensible? I don’t know. I’m sure it’ll be worth it though for a book filled with tons of comedy and a host of well-written characters.
So there’s my to-be-read list, which do you think I should choose? Or have you read any of these? Can you give me any insight into them at all? Basically, help!
