Life Rambles: Friday Favourites #33

Afternoon chums. Happy Friday! How are we all today? I’m in a particularly perky mood, it must be because it’s the weekend and i’m here reminiscing about my favourites bits and bobs from the week.

Now we all know that I love a good brunch, hello blog posts about eating brunch, here, here and here, but what I discovered this week is the great idea of pre-work breakfast with friends. It’s got all the joys of brunch but without the busy tables and long waits for your eggs to arrive. Plus it sets you up amazingly for the work day ahead. On Wednesday I headed to Granger & Co. near Kings Cross Station to meet with some friends, one of whom was over from Australia on a flying visit. Which is why we met for breakfast, it being the easiest way for as all to get together. Now it wasn’t my favourite breakfast, mostly because my OJ took about 20 minutes to arrive at the table after I’d eaten my poached eggs on sourdough with bacon, but the coffee and food were good so that’s a plus point. But the best part was meeting up with all the ex-Penguins. It’s always lovely when we get together.

Continuing along on the theme of food I had an amazing lazy and incredibly easy dinner on Tuesday night. It was a simple beef in black bean with leftover rice but it was so delicious that it had me wondering why it’s taken me so long to make it. I’m pretty sure I haven’t made it since I moved into this house, which is 9 months. So yeah, that needed to be rectified. I think I need to write a favourites easy dinners list to help myself remember these types of meals.

On Monday I ran the Vitality 10k and had a really amazing time. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect, the route was epic and I enjoyed running again for the first time in four months (more about that another time I think). I did the event with my sisters and although we ran separately we did start together and then met up at the end, which was excellent as it allowed us all to run at our own pace, without being lonely billy no mates at the start and finish!

My final favourite thing of this week is that my work summer hours have started. Summer hours is thirteen weeks where anyone can take Friday afternoons off as long as they make up the time throughout the week, and as long as some people in the team are still working. Considering I’m always in early and leaving late it’s an easy thing for me to do. So it’s a brilliant opportunity to get out of the office early and enjoy the sunshine. Although today there’s no sunshine and the summer hours crept up on me, so I’m using the free time to do some life admin and also write this blog post. Lucky me hey!

What have you been up to this week? Any weekend plans?
