“If a book is well written, I always find it too short” – Jane Austen
Today is World Book Day, a yearly celebration of all the wonderful children’s books. Kids dress as their favourite book character, read their favourite books and just generally enjoy all things bookish. Isn’t that just the best celebration ever? This year it’s the 20th anniversary of World Book Day and I’m completely jealous of all those kids that got to celebrate this glorious day at school!I’m too old to have been able to celebrate it. Woe is me.
As it’s World Book Day, I thought I’d share a glorious quote from one of my favourite writers. A writer who was full of wise words, especially when it came to books! I’d never have learnt to love Jane Austen’s brilliant books if I hadn’t been introduced to so many amazing books as a child. Books like Matilda, Charlotte’s Webb, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Where’s Spot?, Peter Pan, the entire series’ of Mallory Towers, The Babysitter’s Club and Sweet Valley High and The Little Girl in the Big Freeze. So hooray for children’s books and the wonderful characters and worlds that I grew up with.
What’s your favourite children’s book?
